(57) Abstract :
A vibration isolation module of towed arrays is required for attenuating ship- borne vibrations transmitted through the tow cables
and the rear end vibrations. A vibration isolation module is fabricated containing an in situ curing polymer gel as the damping
material. The polymerized gel material is of low viscosity at the time of filling enabling easy filling without any air entrapment
and evolves to a high viscosity damping material quality property. The cured gel retains much of the stress relief and self- healing
qualities of a liquid while attaining the dimensional stability and non-flowing characteristics of a solid elastomer. The material is
stable and does not change its properties on aging.........
