(57) Abstract :<br />

The invention provides a system (10) <strong>and</strong> method for moving a cursor (16) in response to pointing device movements according to<br />

a certain transfer function wherein the transfer function is such that when the cursor (16) hits the edge <strong>of</strong> the screen (12) <strong>and</strong> the<br />

pointing device movement continues further beyond this point in a direction which cannot be followed by the cursor (16) due to<br />

reaching the edge <strong>of</strong> the screen (12) the pointing device movement is remembered <strong>and</strong> the cursor (16) starts moving away from<br />

the edge again when the pointing device (20) is moved back by the same distance as it was moved beyond the time point when<br />

the cursor (16) had hit the edge <strong>of</strong> the screen (12); or wherein the transfer function is variable according to previous pointing<br />

device movements<br />
