(57) Abstract :<br />

A hybrid system <strong>of</strong> gaseous regenerative fuel cell <strong>and</strong> compression mechanism is disclosed that involves oxidation <strong>of</strong> Sulphur<br />

dioxide using electrochemical processes inside an electrochemical cell. After oxidation, Sulphur trioxide is produced which reacts<br />

with Sulphuric acid exothermically. The energy liberated by the exothermic reaction is absorbed by another working fuel which<br />

exp<strong>and</strong>s <strong>and</strong> performs mechanical work in another power cycle. The invented system basically runs on a reversible chemical<br />

reaction, with work being done by the energy released by the reactions. The forward reaction liberates energy <strong>and</strong> during<br />

reversible reaction, the energy is absorbed by another fluid with a lower heat capacity. After work is performed, the original<br />

reactants are regenerated using thermal <strong>and</strong> electric methods.<br />
