(57) Abstract :<br />

The present invention discloses a novel, cost-effective process for preparation <strong>of</strong> a diazoamino benzene compound. Specifically, it<br />

relates to the process for the preparation <strong>of</strong> diminazene diaceturate. The process comprises a) converting p-nitro benzoic acid <strong>of</strong><br />

formula VII into p-nitro benzamide <strong>of</strong> formula VI; b) converting p-nitro benzamide <strong>of</strong> formula VI into p-nitro benzonitrile <strong>of</strong><br />

formula V ; c) converting p-nitro benzonitrile <strong>of</strong> formula V into p-nitro benzamidoxime <strong>of</strong> formula IV ; d) reducing the p-nitro<br />

benzamidoxime <strong>of</strong> formula IV to obtain p-amino benzamidine dihydrochloride <strong>of</strong> formula III ; e) diazotising p-amino<br />

benzamidine dihydrochloride <strong>of</strong> formula III, followed by coupling <strong>of</strong> diazonium salt <strong>of</strong> p-amino benzamidine dihydrochloride<br />

with p-amino benzamidine dihydrochloride to obtain diminazene <strong>of</strong> formula II; f) reacting diminazene <strong>of</strong> formula II obtained in<br />

step e) with aceturic acid to form diminazene diaceturate <strong>of</strong> formula I.<br />
