All the graphics of the proposed
development are not to scale. If one
compares the height depicted in relationship
to the 7.6 meter lamppost it is clear that the
development is being portrayed as a lot
smaller and lower that it will ultimately be.
Incorrect representations have been made
on purpose, i.e. building heights, benefits to
fishing community, etc
I demand that all names of complainants
received between 10 December 2007 and
10 February 2008 be made public and proof
supplied that they are on I&AP list and that
they have received correspondence from
Aurecon.
During the public meeting on 31 October
2009 in Struisbaai, Aurecon was asked
about the extent of objections that have
already been made and how these are
managed. The Draft EIR (Volume 1&2) do
not contain information w.r.t. the number
and range of objections made thus far and
the value attributed to them. It might be of
benefit to Aurecon‟s credibility should a
summary of all the objections are distributed
among I&APs.

individual complaints via an appendix?

All correspondence for each phase of the
project is summarized in a Comment and
Response Report for that phase and the
original comments are collated and attached
to the report. The reports have been available
to the public at each phase of the public
participation process. This methodology
applies for all phases. Please refer to
Annexure D of Volume 1 of the DEIR
comments received during the period 18
December 2008 to February 2009.

October 2009 – 17 November 2009 are
attached in Annexure D of the FEIR.
Public participation processes within the
environmental legislation are aimed at
ensuring that issues and concerns are voiced
by the interested and/or affected parties. As
such, it is not a support poll for particular
options or developments and frequently those
in favour of a proposal will not even
participate as they have few issues to raise.
ALL public correspondence for each phase of
the project is summarized in a Comment and
Response Report for that phase and the
original comments are collated and attached
to the report for all to peruse. These
comments form a critical part of what was
investigated in the EIA. It is therefore blatantly
incorrect to state that Aurecon has not
provided or valued the “objections” of the
I&APs. .

in the EIA documentation.
