The proposed development is totally out of
character with the harbour environment and
the sense of place and character of
Struisbaai and surrounds and under no
circumstances should it be allowed to
continue.
The proposed 16 m high building would
pave a way for private homeowners to build
higher and therefore reduce the overall
aesthetics and feel of Struisbaai whose very
appeal lies in the fact that it is not
commercialized such as places like
Hermanus, Mosselbaai, etc. Furthermore
allowing this development would also pave
the way for further exploitation by
developers.
The proposed development would result in
a change of the atmosphere of a harbour.
Struisbaai is the last unspoilt commercial
harbour in the country. Here traditional
chukkies are moored without yacht marinas
and constructions, as proposed in the
application.
The harbour is visually pleasing and is
place where one can relax and enjoy.
The harbour provides entertainment with
local content, watch the fishing boats
coming in with their catch of the day Take a
walk along the boardwalk through the dunes
and enjoy the simplicity of life
The proposed development will change the
scenery and the whole character of the
Struisbaai harbour.
The proposed development is too big, it will
