The Municipality had admitted that the sewer treatment works located very close to Struisbaai North and is not adequate and will need upgrading, when will the upgrade of the sewage works be undertaken? Who will be responsible for payment of additional expenses for the upgrade? Can the ordinary taxpayer in Struisbaai afford this? Certain vital needs such as provision of water during peak seasons and sewage services first needs to be addressed. We already have trouble with water provision and there is no sewage system. Water and electricity are under existing pressure and any further development will aggravate this situation for all those concerned. Struisbaai‟s infrastructure would not be able to support the proposed development, especially the sewage system. There's currently lack of infrastructure such as sufficient water and sewage management in Struisbaai. Water restrictions are already being imposed on residents during the hot summer season; this development will further aggravate the lack of municipal water The sewerage system is not adequate to absorb any additional flows Objections submitted by this Association regarding insufficient water and electricity infrastructure for the proposed development, as well as the absence of a sewage system, are still relevant The required development levy and other costs to the proponent will be determined in a service agreement by the CAM. The current situation cannot be rectified by using one or more additional boreholes. Expensive infrastructure (i.e. pipelines, electricity, reservoir, etc.) will be required to get water to households. There are not enough funds for the construction of electricity and water infrastructure for luxury developments when taking into account government‟s current shortage of money for social development and upliftment (housing developments, poverty alleviation, etc). We're concerned about the absence of infrastructure for the proposed development; and Regarding water supply, the geohydrological features of the aquifers feeding the Struisbaai/L‟Agulhas basin are under severe strain. Fear has been expressed by the Town Engineer that further exploitation of this resource may cause permanent and irreversible damage to the source. Further boreholes into the same resource can only exacerbate the situation. I cannot find any mitigation measures in your report regarding this. The holiday sewage loads of the towns of Struisbaai/L'Agulhas are already strained to the limit. So much so that tankers had to be borrowed from neighbouring towns to cope with the load. A pumped system from the harbour would alleviate the situation but it is not sufficiently covered in the report. The provision of services to the community is the CAM‟s responsibility and they have provided official comment with regard to the proposed development as per the letter in Annexure A of the FEIR. Please refer to Section 5.2.1 of the FEIR. This is a separate process that the CAM needs to undertake and may require a separate EIA process. According to the CAM letter in Annexure A of the FEIR a hydrological assessment was undertaken and it was determined that sufficient water exists to service Struisbaai. Please refer to Section 5.2.1 of the FEIR. The proposed road changes will directly affect residents in Kusweg Oos. Owners have invested to own a piece of land with certain attributes i.e. a quiet road. Please refer to Section 5.2.1 of the FEIR. Your concern is noted regarding quiet roads, please refer to Section 5.2.2 of the FEIR .
