I'm a Struisbaai resident for 17 years and annual visitor for 45 years and the proposed development cannot take place As a resident of Struisbaai, I think that the proposed development is a smoke screen I am completely against the proposed development as a Struisbaai homeowner. I have personally also talked to members of the fishing community and they explicitly object to the proposed development. They have signed a petition against it. The Suidpunt Environmental Alliance objects most strongly to any up-market development exceeding two storeys within the Struisbaai Historic and Cultural Harbour precinct I am Struisbaai property owner erf 890 and with my family we strongly object against the proposed development. I would like to express my strongest opposition to the proposed development of the Struisbaai Harbour. Given the overwhelming negative reaction by the directly and indirectly affected Struisbaai community, this development should be rejected just like the developments at Hout Bay and the Apostles in the Peninsula mountain chain The virtual 100% rejection of the proposal by those present was clear for all to see. The draft EIR Phase has been completed. Additional studies and information was obtained to answer issues raised by registered I&APs during the draft EIR review phase which ended on the 17 November 2009. The FEIR will be made available for public review before submission is made to the decision-making authority after which the environmental authorisation decision can be taken. Noted. Support for the development was recruited at schools in the Southern Cape – most likely under the pretence of marketing for the proposed sectional title deeds. Will you be using this as public support for the development? As you know by now, no-one in Struisbaai supports the development. Provincial and local government institutions have been informed of the situation. As we're doing business in the fishing industry, we are totally opposed to the proposed development. I object to the proposed development in Struisbaai. It is my view the proposed harbour development is not conducive to the wellbeing of Struisbaai and I am therefore against it. I am against this development due to the impacts already mentioned. Other opportunities are available for development that (after the necessary consultation of all interested parties) will enhance and grow Struisbaai for us to contribute to the economic needs being placed upon us. I do not approve the proposed development. We ask that this application not be approved. I want to lodge my strongest objection to the development at the Harbour. We are strongly opposed to the development proposed by Golden Falls Trading 193 (Pty) Ltd on erf 848. Noted. Please refer to Section 2.8 of the FEIR. Noted. Regarding the school support, you made the same comment at the public meeting on 31 October 2009, but despite a commitment by you to provide proof of such support; we are yet to validate this allegation. Upon consultation with the proponent they have denied any such doing in the strongest terms. This allegation can only be accepted if the proof is supplied.
