Should the development on erf 848
proceed, where will there be a harbour left
that has the same simplistic relationship
with the fishermen and doesn‟t harm
nature? Why develop erf 848 when it will
only result in the defamation of a much
loved fishing village.
The harbour‟s uniqueness will be spoiled.
I am disappointed that a developer from
Langezandt, who kept in the back of his
mind Struisbaai‟s history and character,
came up with such a proposal. This
development is the opposite of everything
that lure visitors to Struisbaai.
Quality of life: Negative impact on long-term
aspirations of property owners: the owners
of nearby properties specifically bought
here for the peace and quietness of the
area; not for the possibility of a high density
residential and business development
The complete change to Struisbaai
harbour‟s character and nature brought on
by this development would be entirely
unavoidable.
The existing appealing character of
Struisbaai‟s harbour, as well as the very
popular swimming place for families with
you children, will be changed completely by
a development of this nature.
The aesthetic value of the harbour would be
altered. This is not negotiable.
It will change the ambience of the harbour
for everyone.
We all agree to the following objections.
Negative impact on the tranquil rural
atmosphere of the harbour. The proposed
buildings are more suited for a city and will
not contribute to the tranquility of the
countryside.
