Application for Admission<br />
Determine appropriate admission status from the<br />
following list and submit application information as<br />
requested:<br />
Beginning Freshman<br />
Students who have never attended a college/university:<br />
• Complete the IU <strong>South</strong> <strong>Bend</strong> admission application<br />
• Submit an official high school transcript or GED scores<br />
• Submit SAT or ACT assessment scores. Students 21<br />
years old and over are not required to submit scores<br />
• Submit a counselor recommendation (required for<br />
current high school students only)<br />
• Attach a nonrefundable application fee payable to IU<br />
<strong>South</strong> <strong>Bend</strong><br />
Transfer Student<br />
Students who have attended another college/university:<br />
• Submit an official high school transcript and official<br />
transcripts from all colleges/universities previously<br />
attended.<br />
• Submit SAT or ACT assessment scores. Students 21<br />
years old and over are not required to submit scores.<br />
Students with 15 transferable credit hours are also not<br />
required to submit scores.<br />
• Take IU <strong>South</strong> <strong>Bend</strong> placement examinations, if<br />
required, after course work has been evaluated.<br />
• Attach a nonrefundable application fee payable to IU<br />
<strong>South</strong> <strong>Bend</strong>.<br />
Nondegree Student<br />
High school graduates with or without previous college<br />
work who do not intend to pursue a degree or certificate:<br />
• Submit an official high school transcript or GED scores<br />
• Submit SAT scores and/or take IU <strong>South</strong> <strong>Bend</strong><br />
placement examinations<br />
• Attach a nonrefundable application fee payable to IU<br />
<strong>South</strong> <strong>Bend</strong><br />
High School Student<br />
<strong>Current</strong> high school students with at least a 2.5 cumulative<br />
grade point average (CGPA) on a 4-point scale at time of<br />
enrollment who wish to take university classes:<br />
• Submit a counselor recommendation and an official<br />
high school transcript to determine eligibility<br />
• Submit SAT scores and/or take IU <strong>South</strong> <strong>Bend</strong><br />
placement examinations<br />
• Attach a nonrefundable application fee payable to IU<br />
<strong>South</strong> <strong>Bend</strong><br />
Guest Student<br />
Students enrolling for a semester or summer session as a<br />
visiting student from another college or university:<br />
• Submit one of the following: A current transcript, letter<br />
of good standing, or a copy of the last grade card from<br />
the home institution. For admission, guest students<br />
must have at least a 2.0 GPA from their current<br />
institution. Students between their senior year in high<br />
school and freshman year in college may submit a<br />
letter of acceptance from their home institution.<br />
• If you plan to enroll in English, mathematics,<br />
computer science, or science courses, evidence must<br />
be presented to show necessary prerequisites. Without<br />
evidence of prerequisites, completion of IU <strong>South</strong><br />
<strong>Bend</strong> placement examinations is required.<br />
• Attach a nonrefundable application fee payable to IU<br />
<strong>South</strong> <strong>Bend</strong>.<br />
Second Undergraduate Degree<br />
Students who have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited<br />
university and are pursuing an additional undergraduate<br />
degree:<br />
• Submit an official high school transcript and official<br />
transcripts from all colleges/universities previously<br />
attended (do not submit transcripts from <strong>Indiana</strong><br />
<strong>University</strong>)<br />
• Attach a nonrefundable application fee payable to IU<br />
<strong>South</strong> <strong>Bend</strong> (not required for graduates of an <strong>Indiana</strong><br />
<strong>University</strong> campus)<br />
Note: If you have previously attended another IU campus<br />
and have not earned a degree, you do not need to reapply.<br />
Contact the academic program in which you are interested<br />
regarding an intercampus or interdepartmental transfer.<br />
Guest, nondegree, and high school students are not<br />
eligible for institutional, state, or federal financial aid.<br />
All credentials and transcripts submitted for purposes of<br />
admission become the property of IU <strong>South</strong> <strong>Bend</strong> and<br />
cannot be returned to the student or forwarded to other<br />
institutions.<br />
Priority deadlines for Filing Applications<br />
IU <strong>South</strong> <strong>Bend</strong> practices rolling admissions which means<br />
we review applications and make admission decisions<br />
as they arrive. While applications are still accepted<br />
after the priority deadlines, they will be reviewed on an<br />
individual basis and admission cannot be guaranteed for<br />
that semester. To ensure timely processing and effective<br />
communications, we advise applicants to submit their<br />
application and all required materials by the following<br />
