SOCIOlogy of women in america (3 cr.)<br />

The study of the situation of women in<br />

America today—its definition, changes,<br />

and consequences. Specific issues may<br />

include spousal abuse, rape, the role of<br />

homemaker, being different, feminism.<br />

Examines the causes, correlates, and<br />

consequences of current gender role definitions,<br />

and considers personal and institutional<br />

FEMINIST THEORY (3 cr.)<br />

This course is an introduction to feminist<br />

theory. Using primary and secondary<br />

texts, this course introduces students to<br />

the main debates in feminist theory and<br />

provide students with the skills to choose<br />

and use feminist theories to interpret a<br />

wide range of sources of women’s lives.<br />
