PREPROFESSIONAL PROGRAMS—ALLIED HEALTH SCIENCES 4151<br />

Preprofessional Programs<br />

Several preprofessional programs in Allied Health Sciences<br />

are available at IU <strong>South</strong> <strong>Bend</strong>. If you complete prerequisite<br />

courses and application requirements, you are eligible to<br />

apply for acceptance to the Clinical/Professional Programs<br />

located at <strong>Indiana</strong> <strong>University</strong>—Purdue <strong>University</strong><br />

<strong>Indiana</strong>polis and other <strong>Indiana</strong> <strong>University</strong> regional<br />

campuses. Preprofessional programs currently available at<br />

IU <strong>South</strong> <strong>Bend</strong> include:<br />

Clinical Laboratory Science<br />

Cytotechnology<br />

Health Information Administration<br />

Medical Laboratory Technology<br />

Nuclear Medicine<br />

Paramedic Science<br />

Respiratory Therapy<br />

Radiation Therapy<br />

Master of Occupational Therapy<br />

Doctor of Physical Therapy<br />

Enrollment and Advising<br />

All students interested in pursuing an Allied Health<br />

Preprofessional Program should contact the radiography,<br />

medical imaging, and allied health director or program<br />

advisor for orientation and advising sessions. The<br />

director or program advisor helps the student choose the<br />

appropriate courses and semester sequence to complete<br />

the prerequisites.<br />

Admission Requirements<br />

• Following the completion of the required prerequisite<br />

course work, students may apply for admission into<br />

the Clinical/Professional Program of the degree.<br />

• The minimum grade requirement in a prerequisite<br />

course is C (2.0 on a 4.0 scale). Students must achieve<br />

the minimum CGPA of 2.5 to apply for the Clinical/<br />

Professional Program of their degree. Grades from<br />

developmental courses are not calculated into the<br />

grade point average of the prerequisite courses.<br />

• A minimum mathematics/science grade point<br />

average may also be required to apply for admission<br />

into a specific Clinical/Professional Program. This<br />

requirement is applied at the time of program<br />

application and must be maintained.<br />

If a student is unable to meet the required standards<br />

for the desired Allied Health Program, they are advised<br />

of alternate educational programs available to them<br />

on the IU <strong>South</strong> <strong>Bend</strong> campus and throughout <strong>Indiana</strong><br />

<strong>University</strong>.
