LANGUAGE ARTS AND READING II (3 cr.)<br />

This course focuses on the theory,<br />

instructional methods, materials,<br />

technology, and assessment strategies<br />

related to listening, speaking, reading,<br />

and writing for students in grades 3-6.<br />

Comprehension, critical analysis, writing,<br />

and integration of ideas presented in<br />

various print forms across subject matter<br />

are emphasized. Students must also<br />

P: EDUC-E 370. This course focuses<br />

on methods, materials, and techniques<br />

employed in the assessment and instruction<br />

of elementary students experiencing or at<br />

risk for literacy difficulties. This is the last<br />

course in the three-course sequence in<br />

language arts and reading. Students must<br />

and kindergartens, including staffing,<br />

housing, admission, health policies,<br />

school records, budgeting, and schoolcommunity<br />

Planning the curriculum and selecting<br />

and evaluating learning experiences for<br />

To increase the student’s knowledge of<br />

the child as a learner, of goals for early<br />

childhood programs, and of organizing the<br />

instructional setting including teacher roles<br />

Seminar in Early Childhood (3 cr.)<br />

Seminar is based upon current interests<br />

of students and serves as a means of<br />

synthesizing their experiences. An<br />

interdisciplinary approach is taken to<br />

explore current issues and problems<br />

in early childhood education, current<br />

happenings as they relate to the issues,<br />

and major research efforts to support<br />

INTERNSHIP in early childhood (1-6 cr.)<br />

507, and EDUC-E 508. The nature of<br />

the internship is determined by the<br />

student’s personal goals and previous<br />

educational and teaching background. In<br />

this individualized program, it is possible<br />

to elect one of many work-study-type<br />

abilities, and techniques and materials<br />

for instruction. This course is intended for<br />

initial certification graduate students.<br />
