processes on various audiences in various<br />

situations.<br />

TELECOMMUNICATIONS (1-3 cr.)<br />

P: Senior status or consent of instructor.<br />

Exploration of problems and issues of<br />

telecommunications in contemporary<br />

society. May be taken three times for<br />

credit with different topics.<br />

TEL-R 408 ADVANCED AUDIO PRODUCTION (3 cr.)<br />

P: TEL-T 283; and demonstrated fluency<br />

with Macintosh and PC platforms.<br />

Advanced digital and analog audio<br />

production techniques for film, radio,<br />

video, and multimedia. Topics include<br />

digitizing, formats, synthesis, filtering,<br />

and effects via digital and analog outboard<br />

techniques. Particular emphasis is placed<br />

on audio for film and video, combined<br />

audio/MIDI techniques, and production<br />

strategies for effective communication in<br />

audio.<br />

P: Junior or senior status. Critical viewing<br />

and analysis course exploring major<br />

nonfiction film and television genres in<br />

history and present-day practice.<br />

TEL-T 211 WRITING FOR THE ELECTRONIC MEDIA (3 cr.)<br />

P: ENG-W 131. Working seminar stressing<br />

principles of writing for the electronic<br />

media. Topics include writing television<br />

and radio commercials; corporate,<br />

educational, and instructional projects;<br />

and the documentary. Emphasis on<br />

development of information gathering,<br />

organization, story ideas, and effective<br />

presentation of material for the various<br />

electronic media.<br />

TEL-T 273 MEDIA PROGRAM DESIGN (3 cr.)<br />

Provides a conceptual framework for<br />

writing, designing, and evaluating a<br />

variety of media products. Media program<br />

design is not a hands-on production<br />

course, but does offer an overview of the<br />

production process. Topics include script<br />

writing, production design, visualization,<br />

composition, editing styles, and others.<br />

This course is a prerequisite for some<br />

advanced-level courses in the design/<br />

production area.<br />

media organization, control, financial<br />

and writing of dramatic and nondramatic<br />

scripts.
