5.6 City Council shall maintain an up-to-date
Economic Strategic Plan, and in so doing
shall,

(a) identify emerging trends in business
and industry (including the agricultural
industry) and assessing the implications
on Pickering;
(b) monitor the results, initiatives and
actions recommended by the Plan and
making revisions where necessary; and
(c) amend the provisions of the official
plan, zoning by-laws, and other
corporate documents in accordance
with the Strategic Plan.
5.7 City Council shall encourage, and where
possible assist utility companies, the
Province, the development industry and
others to establish a high speed, broad
band telecommunications network that
links, over time, all homes, businesses,
institutions and facilities across the City
and the Greater Toronto Area, and allows
for information, knowledge and skills to be
widely shared and disseminated.
