Is bounded by the <strong>Pickering</strong>-Toronto boundary, the<br />

C.P. rail line, an open space area east <strong>of</strong> Rosebank Road,<br />

and the Ontario Hydro transmission corridor<br />

Includes part <strong>of</strong> the Rouge Park, and has significant open<br />

space lands associated with the Rouge-Duffins Wildlife<br />

Corridor<br />

Most <strong>of</strong> the neighbourhood developed prior to the 1970s<br />

Consists <strong>of</strong> primarily detached dwellings; commercial<br />

building is located at the southeast corner <strong>of</strong> Altona Road<br />

and Finch Avenue<br />

Has environmentally sensitive areas associated with the<br />

Rouge River and Park, Petticoat Creek, and various<br />

wooded areas within and adjacent to the neighbourhood<br />

Has one Detailed Review Area within its boundary: lands<br />

central to the neighbourhood<br />

Council has adopted development guidelines for this<br />

neighbourhood<br />

Policies<br />

11.16 <strong>City</strong> Council shall,<br />

(a) in the consideration <strong>of</strong> development<br />

proposed within the neighbourhood,<br />

(i) discourage designs which require the<br />

use <strong>of</strong> reverse frontages, berms and<br />

significant noise attenuation fencing<br />

adjacent to Finch Avenue and Altona<br />

Road, unless justified for a limited<br />

proportion <strong>of</strong> street frontage within any<br />

proposed development by unique site<br />

configuration, road access or proximity<br />

considerations and mitigated by special<br />

design and/or landscaping features;<br />

(ii) encourage a “neighbourhood focus” at<br />

the intersection <strong>of</strong> Finch Avenue and<br />

Altona Road through the utilization <strong>of</strong><br />

structural massing, architectural<br />

elements, and landscaping that<br />

establishes a strong relationship with<br />

the intersection;<br />
