(ii) may permit minor additions,
replacement structures, property
improvements, minor infilling and
ancillary uses related to existing
development;
(iii) shall permit works required for flood
and erosion control, conservation
purposes, and where appropriate,
stormwater management; and
(iv) may permit alterations to a
watercourse or stream corridor,
including the placement of fill
(whether originating on the site or
elsewhere), or the removal of fill, or
the provision of access to the valley,
only following the appropriate
approvals of the relevant
conservation authority and the
Ministry of Natural Resources, if
necessary.

Flood Plain Special Policy Areas
10.20 City Council recognizes that certain
communities within the City have developed
on lands susceptible to flooding, and
acknowledges the continued viability of these
areas; accordingly, Council shall,
(a) designate Flood Plain Special Policy
Areas to increase awareness of these
communities (see Schedule III); and
(b) despite section 10.19, permit development,
including the rehabilitation of, and
extension to, existing buildings and
structures within Flood Plain Special
Policy Areas, provided appropriate flood
protection measures are instituted
(see section 15.31).
CITY POLICY
Pollution, Contamination and
Waste Disposal Sites
10.21 City Council recognizes the potentially
serious impacts of pollution, contamination
and waste disposal sites on the community;
accordingly, Council shall,
(a) oppose the establishment of any new
landfill sites in Pickering serving the
needs of people and businesses living or
operating outside of the City;
(b) prohibit new or expanded waste disposal
sites without amendment to this Plan;
