AMENDMENT OF REGULATIONS AND INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE
AUXHilARY SERVICES -MEAL ALLOWANCES TO CHIEF PETTY
OFFICER AND PETTY OFFICER RATINGS.
The following amendment of the Regulations and Instructions for the
Auxiliary Services (Navy Order No. 294/1921) has been approved :—
Article 79A is repealed, and the following substituted in its stead, with
effect as from 1st February, 1922 :—
" 79A. In exceptional cases when members of the Auxiliary
Services in receipt of Consolidated rates of pay (other than the
Duty Chief Petty Officer, or Duty Petty Officer, or the General
Workman detailed as Night Watchman) are required to remain
on duty after 6.30 p.m., after performing continuous duty during
the day, and when such attendance necessitates their obtaining their
evening meal away from their usual place of residence, they may be
granted the actual amount necessarily expended on such meal,
provided that the maximum sum allowable in such instance shall
not exceed two shillings."

AMENDMENT OF FINANCIAL REGULATIONS (SEA-GOING)-
ALLOWANCE FOR FIRED CARTRIDGE CASES.
The following amendment of Financial Regulations (Sea-going) has been
approved :—
AMENDMENT.
Article 10 is amended, as from 1st April, 1921, by omitting clauses
(2) and (3), and inserting in their stead the following, respectively :—
" (2) Cartridge Cases—Annual Grants for Collecting and Returning—
Grants in accordance with the following scale may be paid to H.M. A.
ships in full, active or reserve commission, for collecting and
returning cartridge cases :—
Bate per annum.

Light Cruisers and Submarine Depot Ships (each) 5 0 '0

H.M.A. Ships in reserve are npt eligible for these grants.
Payment may be made quarterly, in advance, and will be subject
to such other conditions as may be approved by the Naval Board.
(3) Cartridge Cases—Allowance for Collecting and Returning—
When the annual grant set forth in clause (2) of this article is not
drawn, the Naval Board may approve of payment of allowances
for collecting and returning cartridge cases, fired tubes, and metals
(from bullets) being made in accordance with the following scale :—
For Cartridges— £ s. d. Weight.
Aiming Rifle, 1-inch .. 1 0 0 per 1,000 of 174 lbs.
Machine Gun and Small Arm,

AMENDED FINANCIAL REGULATIONS (SEA-GOING)-
DEFERRED PAY—CHAPLAINS.
The following amendments of Financial Regulations (Sea-going) are
approved with effect from the dates shown :—
Article 13 is amended—
(i) by adding new sub-clause at the end of this Article with effect from
1st January, 1918, to read as follows :—
" Chaplains— . Bate per diem.
Chaplain (on appointment) .. 3s.
„ after four years .. 3s. 9d.
,, Senior Chaplains .. .. 4s. 6d."
(ii) by omitting the foregoing sub-clause, and inserting in lieu the following
with effect as from 1st July, 1919 :—
" Chaplains— Bate per diem.
Chaplain (on appointment) .. 3s. 9d.
,, after six years .. .. 4s. 6d.
,, after twelve years .. 5s.
,, after eighteen years .. . . 6s."
All adjustments to 31st December, 1921, which may be necessary in
consequence of the above will be effected in Navy Office.
