AMENDMENT OF REGULATIONS AND INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE<br />

AUXHilARY SERVICES -MEAL ALLOWANCES TO CHIEF PETTY<br />

OFFICER AND PETTY OFFICER RATINGS.<br />

The following amendment of the Regulations and Instructions for the<br />

Auxiliary Services (<strong>Navy</strong> Order No. 294/1921) has been approved :—<br />

Article 79A is repealed, and the following substituted in its stead, with<br />

effect as from 1st February, 1922 :—<br />

" 79A. In exceptional cases when members of the Auxiliary<br />

Services in receipt of Consolidated rates of pay (other than the<br />

Duty Chief Petty Officer, or Duty Petty Officer, or the General<br />

Workman detailed as Night Watchman) are required to remain<br />

on duty after 6.30 p.m., after performing continuous duty during<br />

the day, and when such attendance necessitates their obtaining their<br />

evening meal away from their usual place of residence, they may be<br />

granted the actual amount necessarily expended on such meal,<br />

provided that the maximum sum allowable in such instance shall<br />

not exceed two shillings."<br />

AMENDMENT OF FINANCIAL REGULATIONS (SEA-GOING)-<br />

ALLOWANCE FOR FIRED CARTRIDGE CASES.<br />

The following amendment of Financial Regulations (Sea-going) has been<br />

approved :—<br />

AMENDMENT.<br />

Article 10 is amended, as from 1st April, 1921, by omitting clauses<br />

(2) and (3), and inserting in their stead the following, respectively :—<br />

" (2) Cartridge Cases—Annual Grants for Collecting and Returning—<br />

Grants in accordance with the following scale may be paid to H.M. A.<br />

ships in full, active or reserve commission, for collecting and<br />

returning cartridge cases :—<br />

Bate per annum.<br />

Battle Cruisers .. .. . . (each) 10 0 0<br />

Light Cruisers and Submarine Depot Ships (each) 5 0 '0<br />

Sloops, Gunboats, and Destroyers .. (each) 4 0 0<br />

H.M.A. Ships in reserve are npt eligible for these grants.<br />

Payment may be made quarterly, in advance, and will be subject<br />

to such other conditions as may be approved by the Naval Board.<br />

(3) Cartridge Cases—Allowance for Collecting and Returning—<br />

When the annual grant set forth in clause (2) of this article is not<br />

drawn, the Naval Board may approve of payment of allowances<br />

for collecting and returning cartridge cases, fired tubes, and metals<br />

(from bullets) being made in accordance with the following scale :—<br />

Aiming Rifle, 1-inch .. 1 0 0 per 1,000 of 174 lbs.<br />

Machine Gun and Small Arm,<br />

AMENDED FINANCIAL REGULATIONS (SEA-GOING)-<br />

DEFERRED PAY—CHAPLAINS.<br />

The following amendments of Financial Regulations (Sea-going) are<br />

approved with effect from the dates shown :—<br />

Article 13 is amended—<br />

(i) by adding new sub-clause at the end of this Article with effect from<br />

1st January, 1918, to read as follows :—<br />

" Chaplains— . Bate per diem.<br />

Chaplain (on appointment) .. 3s.<br />

„ after four years .. 3s. 9d.<br />

,, Senior Chaplains .. .. 4s. 6d."<br />

(ii) by omitting the foregoing sub-clause, and inserting in lieu the following<br />

with effect as from 1st July, 1919 :—<br />

" Chaplains— Bate per diem.<br />

Chaplain (on appointment) .. 3s. 9d.<br />

,, after six years .. .. 4s. 6d.<br />

,, after twelve years .. 5s.<br />

,, after eighteen years .. . . 6s."<br />

All adjustments to 31st December, 1921, which may be necessary in<br />

consequence of the above will be effected in <strong>Navy</strong> Office.<br />
