CLEANING WEBBING EQUIPMENT.<br />
1. The supply of Mills Cleaner Powder and Sprinklers for use in cleaning<br />
Webbing Equipment has been approved for issue to H.M.A. Ships and<br />
Establishments.<br />
2. The following quantities have been approved for issue as a first supply,<br />
without demand :—<br />

3. First supplies will be issued by the Naval Store Officer, Sydney, forthwith.<br />
4. Reports in regard to the suitability of Mills Cleaner Powder and Sprinklers<br />
are to be forwarded to <strong>Navy</strong> Office by H.M.A. Ships and Establishments<br />
after six months' trial, in order that the question of their further use may be<br />
decided on. The estimated future requirements should be stated in each<br />
report.<br />
5. Special attention is invited to Admiralty Fleet Order 1735/21, paragraph<br />
5, relative to care and preservation of web leggings.<br />

RECREATION LEAVE.—(CIVIL STAFF).<br />
1. It has been decided that from 1st September, 1922, Officers and<br />
Employees of the Civil Staff who are eligible for Recreation Leave, shall be<br />
granted such leave under the following conditions :—<br />
(a) Where Recreation Leave for any year is taken in one period,<br />
leave shall be granted by days, and Saturday is to be counted as<br />
one day.<br />
(6) Where Recreation Leave for any year is granted in two or more<br />
periods, the whole period of leave should be dealt with on an<br />
hourly basis.<br />
Thus, under the provisions of (b), leave in the case of a clerk who is eligible<br />
for 18 days' Recreation Leave annually and whose ordinary hours of duty are<br />
9 to 4.30 p.m. (less three-quarters of an hour for lunch) on Monday to<br />
Friday, and 9 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturday, i.e , 36| hours per week,<br />
would amount to 110]; hours.<br />
2. When submitting application for Recreation Leave, Officers are in<br />
future to state the exact time from which it is desired leave should commence,<br />
e.g., an officer desiring leave from 11 a.m. or 2.15 p.m. should state this on<br />
his application.<br />

ADDENDUM TO NAVY ORDER NO. 312 OF 1922.<br />

The following clause is to be added to paragraph 2 of <strong>Navy</strong> Order No.<br />
312 of 1922:—<br />
" Appropriation Authorities should be applied for on forms ' B' in<br />
the usual manner except in the case of H.M.A. Ships, when necessary<br />
action will be taken in <strong>Navy</strong> Office."<br />

NAVAL STORE AND NAVAL ORDNANCE SHIPS'<br />
ACCOUNTS.<br />
Paragraph 2 of Article 100 of Consolidated <strong>Navy</strong> Orders 1911-1920 is<br />
cancelled and the following substituted :—<br />
" A letter of advice (Form 558), enumerating the accounts, &c,<br />
forwarded, is invariably to be sent to the above under separate cover.<br />
This is necessary to enable steps to be taken to trace accounts, &c,<br />
forwarded, which may be unduly delayed in transit."<br />
