OBSERVANCE OF 10th DECEMBER AS A PUBLIC HOLIDAY IN<br />

QUEENSLAND.<br />

As 10th December is not now observed as a public holiday in Queensland,<br />

flags are not flown on Commonwealth Public Offices in Queensland on that<br />

date, and this day will not therefore be a day upon which ships will be dressed.<br />

Article 40 of Consolidated <strong>Navy</strong> Orders 1911-1920, is to be amended accordingly.<br />

CD7ILIAN OFFICERS OF THE DEPARTMENT OF DEFENCE<br />

ACCOMMODATED IN H.M.A. SHD?S AND ESTABLISHMENTS.<br />

It has been decided that, unless instructions to the contrary are issued,<br />

Civilian Officers of the Department of Defence who are required to proceed<br />

to one of H.M.A. Ships or Establishments on duty shall be accommodated<br />

in the Ward Room Officers' Mess.<br />

2. <strong>Navy</strong> Order No. 257 of 1921 is hereby cancelled.<br />

ISSUE OF FLANNEL AND FLANNEL VESTS.<br />

In view of the large stocks of flannel vests in stock at <strong>Royal</strong> Edward<br />

Victualling Yard, flannel vests are to be demanded by H.M.A. Ships and<br />

Establishments until further notice, in the proportion of at least three flannel<br />

vests to every three yards of flannel demanded.<br />

2. It is desired that, as a general rule, flannel should only be issued where<br />

flannel vests will not meet requirements and outside sizes are required.<br />

3. Similarly, flannel vests only are invariably to be issued to members<br />

of the R.A.N.R. and R.A.N.R. Staff whenever possible.<br />

4. <strong>Navy</strong> Order No. 42 of 1922 is hereby cancelled.<br />

may be paid to an Officer on first joining, or on promotion to Officer<br />

rank, or on confirmation of appointment, in accordance with the<br />
