Flotilla.<br />
PAYING-OFF OF SUBMARINE FLOTILLA.<br />
Platypus, Huon, and " J " Class Submarines in commission are to pay<br />
off at an early date.<br />
•<br />
The re-commissioning of Platypus as a Destroyer Depot Ship and Fleet<br />
Repair Vessel is under consideration. Huon will be attached to Penguin on<br />
paying off, with a care and maintenance party.<br />
The six " J " Class Submarines will be laid up at Western Port as noneffective<br />
vessels.<br />
S/M<br />
Personnel.<br />
2. Officers and men at present attached to Submarine Flotilla will revert<br />
to general service, with the exception of a Battery Party selected by Captain<br />
(S) for the maintenance of those Batteries which are retained for use at<br />
Flinders Naval Depot.<br />
This party will be borne as permanent supernumeraries on books o*<br />
Cerberus.<br />
Osborne House and Platypus<br />
II.<br />
3. On Platypus finally sailing from Geelong, Osborne House and Platypus<br />
II. will be attached to the command of the Captain Superintendent of Training.<br />
The following care and maintenance party is to be retained at Osborne<br />
House for the present, and to be transferred to the books of Cerberus on that<br />
date:—<br />
Auxiliary<br />
Craft.<br />
Executive Officer (Lieut. Crabbe),<br />
Barrackmaster,<br />
1 Petty Officer,<br />
1 Leading Seaman or Leading Stoker,<br />
6 other ratings.<br />
4. Platypus is to tow No. 3 Oil Lighter to Williamstown, and transfer<br />
it to the charge of the Sub-District Naval Officer on a date to be arranged<br />

by Captain (S).<br />
Platypus is to tow the Steam Launch now at Osborne House to Flinders<br />
Naval Depot, and transfer her temporarily to the Captain Superintendent of<br />
Training.<br />
Motor Boat 39 is to be retained at Osborne House for disposal.<br />
Armament and Stores.<br />
5. The Guns and Torpedo Armament of Submarines and all Naval Ordnance,<br />
Naval, Victualling and Medical Stores of Submarine Flotilla, including<br />
those on board Platypus II. and at Osborne House, are to be returned to the<br />
respective Store Officers at Sydney, by Platypus on her return to<br />
Sydney on completion of the work detailed in paragraph 6.<br />
Stores at Osborne House other than Flotilla Stores are to be retained for<br />
• '-esent.<br />
-bmarine Attack Teacher is to be transferred by Platypus from<br />
- to Torpedo School, Flinders Naval Depot, for instructional<br />

Removal of Batteries from Submarines.<br />
6. Prior to the final berthing of Submarines at Flinders Naval Depot, all<br />
serviceable Batteries are to be removed and placed in Battery Shed. Unserviceable<br />
Batteries will be scrapped.<br />
This work will be carried out in the following order :—<br />
