The following Summaries of Torpedo Running of the <strong>Royal</strong> <strong>Australian</strong><br />

<strong>Navy</strong> from 1st October, 1921, to 30th September, 1922, are promulgated<br />

for the information of all concerned :—<br />

COMMUNICATIONS TO AND FROM NAVY OFFICE-D.N.M.S. AND<br />

COMMANDING OFFICERS AND MEDICAL OFFICERS OF<br />

H.M.A. SHD7S AND NAVAL ESTABLISHMENTS.<br />

The following amendment to Article 110 of the Consolidated <strong>Navy</strong> Orders<br />

1911-1920 has been approved :—<br />

Insert new Clause 4B as follows :—<br />

" 4B. The Director of Naval Medical Services may communicate<br />

direct with Medical Officers serving in H.M.A. Ships and Naval<br />

Establishments on purely professional matters. On questions<br />

regarding Medical Store Accounts and other not strictly professional<br />

0 subjects, the D.N.M.S. will communicate with the<br />

Commanding Officer of the Ship or Establishment concerned<br />

and vice versa.<br />

404.<br />

NAVAL WORKS-PERFORMANCE OF, BY NAVAL RATINGS AND<br />

EMPLOYEES OF NAVAL ESTABLISHMENTS.<br />

The following paragraphs are to be added to <strong>Navy</strong> Order No. 369 of<br />

1922 :—<br />

" 3. In any case where the estimated cost of the work to be carried<br />

out under this arrangement is £5 or more, the approval of the Naval<br />

Board is to be obtained before the work is commenced.<br />

" 4. The usual procedure of preparing a Requisition for work,<br />

including works costing less than £5, is to be followed, and on completion<br />

of the work the Requisition, showing the total cost—excluding<br />

labour of Naval ratings, but including that of Civilian employees—is<br />

to be forwarded to <strong>Navy</strong> Office, in order that financial adjustments<br />

may be made."<br />

405.<br />

REGISTER OF DISCHARGES—OFFICERS AND MEN.<br />

The following Form has been adopted as an A.S. Form, and a first supply<br />

will be made to all Ships and Establishments without demand :—<br />

A.S. 222z—" Register of Discharges—Officers and Men."<br />

2. This Register is to be kept in the Captain's Office, and particulars<br />

entered when the discharge of an Officer or Man is contemplated, the book<br />

being sent to the various Heads of Departments for necessary notations to<br />

be entered, with a view to action being taken for recovery of Government<br />

property, &c, prior to the person leaving the Ship. Particular care is to<br />

be exercised in the keeping of this Register.<br />
