57.
EXCESS LUGGAGE.
Several instances have occurred where individual officers and ratings
travelling on duty have been issued with Excess Luggage Warrants, but
when presenting their luggage for despatch have not produced their railway
ticket. In consequence, the usual passenger's allowance of 1 cwt. for first
class and 84 lbs. for second class passengers has not been granted by the
Railway Department.
2. In all cases in future care should be taken to see that tickets are produced
when despatching luggage so that the passenger's allowance may be
allowed by the Railway Department.
3. Failure to comply with this regulation will render the person concerned
liable to refund the extra charge.

NAVAL FUNERALS.
Navy Order No. 436 of 1921 is to be amended as follows :—
Clause 5.—After word " specifications " insert—
" . . . as shown in copies of contracts for funerals at
Melbourne and Sydney."
Cancel last paragraph and substitute—
•' At Melbourne and Sydney arrangements are to be made by
Commanding Officers direct with Contractors."

AMENDMENT OF FINANCIAL REGULATIONS (SEA-GOING)—
GOOD CONDUCT BADGES.
The following amendment of Financial Regulations (Sea-going) is approved
as from 1st June, 1921 :—
Article 9 is amended by omitting clause (53) and by inserting in its
stead new clause 53 to read as follows :—
(53) Good Conduct Badges— Rate per diem.
One Badge .. .. .. 3d.
Two Badges .. 6d.
Three Badges .. .. .. 9d.
Men who have served in any Permanent Military Force of the British
Empire, or in any temporary British or Dominion Military Force raised
during the War may, with the approval of the Naval Board, be allowed
to count towards the award of Good Conduct Badges any " V.G." time
not exceeding four years which may have been served in those Forces,
provided that the conditions prescribed in Article 748 of the K.R. and
A.I. are fulfilled, and that their enlistment was for Service Overseas,
and not for Home Service only. Men invalided from any of the above
Forces may, with approval of the Naval Board, be allowed to reckon
their service without limitation as to its length. Men who have served
at sea in the British or Colonial Merchant Service may, with the approval
of the Naval Board, be allowed to count only " V.G." time not exceeding
two years, towards the award of Good Conduct Badges, provided the
conditions prescribed in Article 749, King's Regulations and Admiralty
Instructions, are fulfilled. Time served under the age of eighteen year*
in any of the above services will not be allowed to count towards Badge
time, nor time served on Shore in the Citizen Military Forces.
