2. The reduced amount of Re-engagement Gratuity, viz., £10, provided<br />

for in the fourth paragraph of <strong>Navy</strong> Order No. 41/1919 will not be payable<br />

in cash on and after 1st July, 1921. The gratuity will thereafter be credited<br />

to the rating's Deferred Pay Account, and become subject to the conditions<br />

prescribed in Article 12, clauses (2), (3), and (4) of the Financial Regulations<br />

(Sea-going). Consequent upon this decision, the following amendment of the<br />

Financial Regulations (Sea-going) is approved with effect as from 1st July,<br />

1921 :—<br />

Article 14 is amended by adding at the end of clause (2) the following<br />

sub-clause :—<br />

" (vii.) Ratings who, within six months from the date of discharge<br />

from the <strong>Royal</strong> <strong>Australian</strong> <strong>Navy</strong>, are permitted to re-engage for such<br />

further period as is necessary to complete not less than twelve years'<br />

service shall receive a gratuity of £10. This sum shall be credited as,<br />

and be subject to the conditions, set forth in sub-clause (iv.) of this<br />

clause." (21/6777.)<br />

3. The abolition of Re-engagement Gratuity as from 1st July, 1922,<br />

has been approved, and the Financial Regulations (Sea-going) are accordingly<br />

to be amended as follows :—<br />

Article 14 is amended, as from 1st July, 1922, as follows:—<br />

(i) by omitting from the heading the words " and Re-engagement<br />

Gratuity."<br />

(ii) by omitting clause (2).<br />

AMENDMENT OF FINANCIAL REGULATIONS (SEA-GOING)—<br />

RE-ENGAGEMENT GRATUITY.<br />

(Amendment of <strong>Navy</strong> Order No. 68/1922, &c.)<br />

With reference to <strong>Navy</strong> Order No. 68/1922, paragraph 3, relating to the<br />

repealing of Article 14 of the Financial Regulations (Sea-going) is cancelled,<br />

and the following paragraph is to be inserted in its stead :—<br />

" 3. Article 14 is amended as from 1st July, 1921, as follows :—<br />

(i) by omitting the heading and clauses (1) to (16) inclusive and<br />

inserting in their stead the following heading and clause :—<br />

" Service, Promotion, and Re-engagement Gratuity.<br />

Article 14.—(1) Petty Officers and Other Ratings.—All previous<br />

service in the <strong>Royal</strong> <strong>Navy</strong>, or <strong>Royal</strong> Marines, or in the <strong>Navy</strong> of<br />

any other of His Majesty's Dominions, of Petty Officers and other<br />

ratings serving in the Permanent Naval Forces (Sea-going) shall<br />

be allowed to. count as if served in the <strong>Royal</strong> <strong>Australian</strong> <strong>Navy</strong>,<br />

towards service for seniority, rates of pay and allowances and<br />

award of Good Conduct Badges, provided that the provisions of<br />

Article 9, clause (53), shall also apply in the case of Good Conduct<br />

Badges."<br />

(ii) by re-numbering clause (17) as clause (2).<br />

170.<br />

AMENDMENT OF FINANCIAL REGULATIONS (SEA-GOING)—<br />

—REDUCED PAY.<br />

The following amendments of the Financial Regulations (Sea-going)<br />

have been approved as from 1st April, 1922 :—<br />

AMENDMENTS.<br />

1. Article 6 is amended by omitting from clause (1) the words " Kit<br />

Upkeep Allowance is, as from the 1st December, 1921, subject to<br />

reduction when ratings are in receipt of reduced pay in accordance<br />

with Article 43 ". "<br />

2. Article 43 is amended by omitting the words " and Kit Upkeep<br />

Allowance " following the words " non-substantive rates of pay " in<br />

the second line.<br />
