INSPECTION OF SUBMARINE BATTERY LOGS.<br />

Secondary Battery Logs of H.M.A. Submarines in Commission are to be<br />

forwarded by the Captain (S) to the <strong>Navy</strong> Office for inspection on the 1st<br />

day of January and the 1st day of July in each year.<br />

2. After inspection the Logs will be returned to the Captain (S).<br />

3. Under the above routine, it will be necessary for two Battery Logs to<br />

be used alternatively—one to cover the period from 1st January to 30th<br />

June, and the other from 1st July to 31st December in each year.<br />

AMENDMENTS OF FINANCIAL REGULATIONS (SEA-GOING)—<br />

VARIOUS.<br />

The following amendments of the Financial Regulations (Sea-going)<br />

have been approved, with effect as from 1st January, 1922 :—<br />

1. Article 5, Clause (1), is amended—<br />

(1) by omitting the whole scale of pay for " Regulating Branch " and<br />

inserting in its stead new scale as follows :—<br />

TRANSFER OF CONTROL OF R.A.N.R. STORES.<br />

As from 1st January, 1922, all matters relating to stores for the <strong>Royal</strong><br />

<strong>Australian</strong> Naval Reserve, excepting in regard to Mine-sweeping Stores, are<br />

to come under the control of the Director of Naval Stores and Victualling<br />

Director of Ordnance, Torpedoes and Mines, and Director of Naval Medical<br />

Services respectively.<br />

2. From that date the new system of storekeeping laid down in the<br />

revised R.A.N.R. Regulations is to be given effect to in R.A.N.R. Districts<br />

and Sub-districts.<br />

3. Present store accounts are to be closed and balanced as at 31st<br />

December, 1921, and remains, which should be as per revised establishment,<br />

transferred to new store accounts.<br />

4. Excess consumable stores allowed by establishment are to be retained<br />

to meet requirements up to 31st December, 1922, only, for use in the usual<br />

manner, future demands being framed accordingly. All other stores not<br />

allowed by the revised establishments are to be returned to the various store<br />

departments at Sydney by the 31st December, 1921, or as soon afterwards<br />

as circumstances permit, except special articles and apparatus for which<br />

approval for retention may be pending.<br />
