SUPPLY OF PROVISIONS TO H.M.A. SHIPS AND ESTABLISH<br />
MENTS IN VICTORIA.<br />
Unless special approval to the contrary is given, supplies of the items of<br />
Provisions enumerated in <strong>Navy</strong> Order No. 158/1921 (with the exception of<br />
biscuits, flour, and sugar), required by H.M.A. Ships (when stationed in<br />
Victorian waters), Osborne House, and Flinders Naval Depot, are to be<br />
demanded from <strong>Royal</strong> Edward Victualling Yard.<br />
2. Where contracts exist in Victoria for supplies to the Victualling Yard,<br />
the Victualling Store Officer will take the necessary action to arrange supplies<br />
direct from such contractors, but Ship's Demands should be prepared on the<br />
Victualling Yard in the usual manner.<br />
• 3. Every opportunity for free freight in H.M.A. Ships or Fleet Auxiliaries<br />
is to be availed of by the Victualling Store Officer when complying with<br />
demands and, where possible, Ships and Establishments are to regulate<br />
demands with this object in view.<br />
4. With reference to paragraph (1) above, sugar is to be obtained from<br />
the Colonial Sugar Refining Company, 147 William-street, Melbourne ; flour<br />
is generally obtained under contract, and biscuits, if required, are to be<br />
purchased in the usual manner after obtaining quotations.<br />
5. <strong>Navy</strong> Order No. 351/1921 is hereby cancelled.<br />

PURCHASE OF BREAD BY H.M.A. SfflPS FITTED WITH<br />
BAKERIES.<br />
With reference to <strong>Navy</strong> Order 168/1921, it is observed from an examination<br />
of Provision Accounts to 30th September that Bread is still being purchased<br />
from shore under circumstances which do not justify the additional<br />
expenditure involved.<br />
2. Attention is drawn to King's Regulations and Admiralty Instructions,<br />
Article 1704, paragraph 1, which is to be closely observed in all H.M.A. Ships<br />
fitted with a bakery.<br />

ADOPTION OF FORMS.<br />
The following form has been adopted as an A.S. Form for use in the<br />
R.A.N, in accordance with specimen in A.P.O. 3009/21. Supply will be<br />
made by the Naval Store Officer, Sydney, to H.M.A. Ships and Establishments<br />
without demand :—<br />
A.S. 1147A—Return of Temperatures of Storage of Cordite.<br />
