General Paper on Writer or Victualling Branch duties, as the case<br />

5. The syllabus of the subjects covered by Papers I., II. and III. is provided<br />

in paragraph 8 of Admiralty Monthly Order No. 598/1919.<br />

The syllabus of Paper IV. (English) is as follows :—<br />

Writing of Essay.<br />

Structure of a simple sentence.<br />

Detection and correction of grammatical faults.<br />

Combination of simple sentences into one sentence.<br />

Discrimination between words nearly allied in meaning.<br />

6. On completion of the Examination, the worked papers of Papers I.,<br />

II., III. and IV. should be forwarded direct to H.M.A.S. Tingira for marking,<br />

and those of Paper V. should be forwarded direct to the C.S.G.I., or Commanding<br />

Officer, Flinders Naval Depot, as may be ordered, for marking by<br />

the Accountant Officer who set the papers. The schedule of candidates<br />

who sit for this examination, which accompanies the worked paj>ers, should<br />

contain the full name of each candidate, his rating, official number, and<br />

where serving.<br />

7. Article 189 of the Consolidated <strong>Navy</strong> Orders 1911/20 is amended<br />

accordingly, and paragraph 3, of Article 198 of the Consolidated Navv<br />

Orders ] 911/20, and <strong>Navy</strong> Orders Nos. 8, 284, and 488 of 1921, are hereby<br />

cancelled.<br />
