UNIVERSITY STUDIES PROGRAM 121<br />

Mathematics (6 SHC): At least one course in introduc<strong>to</strong>ry<br />

mathematics is required; the other course may be selected from<br />

among other quantitative subjects, such as computer science and<br />

statistics:<br />

Mathematics (MAT-140, 171, 172, 263, 271, 272, 273)<br />

Other Quantitative Subjects (Statistics-MAT-151, Computer<br />

Science-CIS-110, 115)<br />

*Students must meet the receiving university's foreign language<br />

and/or health and physical education requirements, if applicable,<br />

prior <strong>to</strong> or after transfer <strong>to</strong> the senior institution.<br />

**3 SHC of Speech/Communication may be substituted for 3 SHC<br />

of humanities or fine arts in transfer programs. Speech/<br />

Communication may not substitute for the literature requirement.<br />

Associate in Science Transfer Core Diploma (D10400)<br />

If a student is following an Associate of Science Degree path, the Transfer<br />

Core Diploma course options are listed below. These course options are the<br />

General Education Core for the Associate in Science Degree.<br />

Two English composition courses are required.<br />

ENG-111 Exposi<strong>to</strong>ry Writing (3 SHC) is required as the first<br />

composition course. The second composition course must be<br />

selected from the following:<br />

ENG-112 Argument-Based Research (3 SHC) or<br />

ENG-113 Literature-Based Research (3 SHC) or<br />

ENG-114 Professional Research and Reporting (3 SHC)<br />

Humanities/Fine Arts (9 SHC)** ......................................................... 9<br />

Three courses from three discipline areas are required. One course<br />

must be a literature course.<br />

Two additional courses from two of the following discipline areas<br />

are required: art, drama, foreign languages, interdisciplinary<br />

humanities, music, philosophy, religion and speech/communication.<br />
