GCM-220 Golf Course Maintenance Systems 3 (3-0) S<br />

This course provides a detailed study of the logistics of day-<strong>to</strong>-day maintenance<br />

programs for golf courses. Emphasis is placed on how such programs relate <strong>to</strong> the<br />

overall management of golf course facilities. Upon completion, students should be<br />

capable of setting up and operating maintenance programs at golf courses. This<br />

course is a unique concentration requirement in the Golf Course Management<br />

concentration in the Turfgrass Management Technology program. (1997 FA)<br />

This course provides a detailed analysis of golf course and landscape operations and<br />

administration. Topics include personnel, planning, budgeting, purchasing, records,<br />

labor management, and other day-<strong>to</strong>-day administrative functions. Upon completion,<br />

students should be able <strong>to</strong> understand the complicated roles and functions of golf<br />

course operations. This course is a unique concentration requirement in the Golf<br />

Course Management concentration in the Turfgrass Management Technology<br />

This course provides a detailed study of the application of design principles <strong>to</strong> golf<br />

courses. Emphasis is placed on specific areas associated with golf courses and<br />

surrounding structures. Upon completion, students should be able recognize the<br />

application of design principles as applied <strong>to</strong> golf courses. This course is a unique<br />

concentration requirement in the Golf Course Management concentration in the<br />

This course covers advanced <strong>to</strong>pics and field applications in golf course management.<br />

Emphasis is placed on management issues and professional growth experiences of<br />

current interest <strong>to</strong> golf course operations professionals. Upon completion, students<br />

should be able <strong>to</strong> demonstrate an understanding of advanced <strong>to</strong>pics and critically<br />

analyze issues in golf course management. (2008 SP)<br />

GEL Geology<br />

GEL-111 Introduc<strong>to</strong>ry Geology 4 (3-2) AND<br />

This course introduces basic landforms and geological processes. Topics include<br />

rocks, minerals, volcanoes, fluvial processes, geological his<strong>to</strong>ry, plate tec<strong>to</strong>nics,<br />

glaciers, and coastal dynamics. Upon completion, students should be able <strong>to</strong> describe<br />

basic geological processes that shape the earth. This course has been approved for<br />

transfer under the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement as a general education
