AST-111A Descriptive Astronomy Lab 1 (0-2) FS<br />

Prerequisites: ENG-085, MAT 060, minimum grade C<br />

Corequisites: AST-111<br />

The course is a labora<strong>to</strong>ry <strong>to</strong> accompany AST-111. Emphasis is placed on labora<strong>to</strong>ry<br />

experiences which enhance the materials presented in AST-111 and which provide<br />

practical experience. Upon completion, students should be able <strong>to</strong> demonstrate an<br />

understanding of the universe around them. This course has been approved for<br />

transfer under the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement as a general education<br />

course in Natural Science for the A.A., A.F.A., and A.S. degrees. This course also<br />

satisfies the general education course requirement in Natural Science for the A.A.S.<br />

AUB Au<strong>to</strong>motive Body Repair<br />

AUB-111 Painting & Refinishing I 4 (2-6) F<br />

Prerequisites: None<br />

Corequisites: None<br />

This course introduces the proper procedures for using au<strong>to</strong>motive refinishing<br />

equipment and materials in surface preparation and application. Topics include<br />

federal, state, and local regulations, personal safety, refinishing equipment and<br />

materials, surface preparation, masking, application techniques, and other related<br />

<strong>to</strong>pics. Upon completion, students should be able <strong>to</strong> identify and use proper<br />

equipment and materials in refinishing following accepted industry standards. (1997<br />

AUB-112 Painting & Refinishing II 4 (2-6) F<br />

Prerequisites: AUB-111<br />

Corequisites: None<br />

This course covers advanced painting techniques and technologies with an emphasis<br />

on identifying problems encountered by the refinishing technician. Topics include<br />

materials application, color matching, correction of refinishing problems, and other<br />

related <strong>to</strong>pics. Upon completion, students should be able <strong>to</strong> perform spot, panel, and<br />

overall refinishing repairs and identify and correct refinish problems. (1997 SU)<br />

AUB-114 Special Finishes 2 (1-2) S<br />

Prerequisites: AUB-111<br />

Corequisites: None<br />

This course introduces multistage finishes, cus<strong>to</strong>m painting, and protective coatings.<br />

Topics include base coats, advanced intermediate coats, clear coats, and other related<br />

<strong>to</strong>pics. Upon completion, students should be able <strong>to</strong> identify and apply specialized<br />

finishes based on accepted industry standards. (1997 SU)<br />

AUB-121 Non-Structural Damage I 3 (1-4) F<br />

Prerequisites: None<br />

Corequisites: None<br />

This course introduces safety, <strong>to</strong>ols, and the basic fundamentals of body repair.<br />

Topics include shop safety, damage analysis, <strong>to</strong>ols and equipment, repair techniques,<br />

materials selection, materials usage, and other related <strong>to</strong>pics. Upon completion,<br />

students should be able <strong>to</strong> identify and repair minor direct and indirect damage<br />

including removal/repairing/replacing of body panels <strong>to</strong> accepted standards. (1997<br />
