This course is an introduc<strong>to</strong>ry course for students with little or no music background.<br />

Emphasis is placed on music notation, rhythmic patterns, scales, key signatures,<br />

intervals, and chords. Upon completion, students should be able <strong>to</strong> demonstrate an<br />

understanding of the rudiments of music. This course has been approved for transfer<br />

under the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement as a premajor and/or elective<br />

course requirement for the A.A., A.F.A., and A.S. degrees. NOTE: This course<br />

Emphasis is placed on fundamental melodic, rhythmic, and harmonic analysis,<br />

introduction <strong>to</strong> part writing, ear-training, and sight-singing. Upon completion,<br />

students should be able <strong>to</strong> demonstrate proficiency in the recognition and application<br />

of the above. This course has been approved for transfer under the Comprehensive<br />

Articulation Agreement as a premajor and/or elective course requirement for the<br />

A.A., A.F.A., and A.S. degrees. NOTE: This course DOES satisfy the general<br />

advanced melodic, rhythmic, and harmonic analysis and continued studies in partwriting,<br />

ear-training, and sight-singing. Upon completion, students should be able <strong>to</strong><br />

demonstrate proficiency in the recognition and application of the above. This course<br />

has been approved for transfer under the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement as<br />

a premajor and/or elective course requirement for the A.A., A.F.A., and A.S. degrees.<br />

This course provides an opportunity <strong>to</strong> gain experience singing in a chorus. Emphasis<br />

is placed on vocal techniques and the study and performance of a variety of styles<br />

and periods of choral literature. Upon completion, students should be able <strong>to</strong><br />

demonstrate skills needed <strong>to</strong> participate in choral singing leading <strong>to</strong> performance.<br />
