ART-171 Computer Art I 3 (0-6) F<br />

Prerequisites: None<br />

Corequisites: None<br />

This course introduces the use of the computer as a <strong>to</strong>ol for solving visual problems.<br />

Emphasis is placed on fundamentals of computer literacy and design through bitmapped<br />

image manipulation. Upon completion, students should be able <strong>to</strong><br />

demonstrate an understanding of paint programs, printers, and scanners <strong>to</strong> capture,<br />

manipulate, and output images. This course has been approved for transfer under the<br />

Comprehensive Articulation Agreement as a premajor and/or elective course<br />

requirement for the A.A, A.F.A., and A.S. degrees. NOTE: This course DOES satisfy<br />

the general education core requirement in humanities/fine arts for the A.A.S. A.G.E.<br />

ART-214 Portfolio and Résumé 1 (0-2) S<br />

This course covers résumé writing, interview skills, and the preparation and<br />

presentation of an art portfolio. Emphasis is placed on the preparation of a portfolio<br />

of original artwork, the preparation of a pho<strong>to</strong>graphic portfolio, approaches <strong>to</strong> résumé<br />

writing, and interview techniques. Upon completion, students should be able <strong>to</strong><br />

mount original art for portfolio presentation, pho<strong>to</strong>graph and display a professional<br />

slide portfolio, and write an effective résumé. This course has been approved for<br />

transfer under the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement as a premajor and/or<br />

elective course requirement for the A.A., A.F.A., and A.S. degrees. (1997 SU)<br />

ART-231 Printmaking I 3 (0-6) FS<br />

This course introduces printmaking: its his<strong>to</strong>ry, development techniques, and<br />

processes. Emphasis is placed on basic applications with investigation in<strong>to</strong> image<br />

source and development. Upon completion, students should be able <strong>to</strong> produce<br />

printed images utilizing a variety of methods. This course has been approved for<br />

transfer under the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement as a premajor and/or<br />

elective course requirement for the A.A., A.F.A., and A.S. degrees. (1997 SU)<br />

ART-232 Printmaking II 3 (0-6) FS<br />

This course includes additional methods and printmaking processes. Emphasis is<br />

placed on the printed image as related <strong>to</strong> method, source, and concept. Upon<br />

completion, students should be able <strong>to</strong> produce expressive images utilizing both<br />

traditional and innovative methods. This course has been approved for transfer under<br />

the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement as a premajor and/or elective course<br />
