This course provides an advanced study of film art and production, building on skills<br />

learned in HUM-160. Topics include advanced film production techniques, film<br />

genres, examination of master direc<strong>to</strong>rs' styles, and the relation of film <strong>to</strong> culture.<br />

Upon completion, students should be able <strong>to</strong> recognize and critically analyze<br />

advanced elements of film production. This course has been approved for transfer<br />

under the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement as a general education course in<br />

Humanities/Fine Arts for the A.A., A.F.A., and A.S. degrees. This course also satisfies<br />

the general education course requirement in Humanities/Fine Arts for the A.A.S. and<br />

HUM-170 The Holocaust 3 (3-0) F<br />

Prerequisites: ENG-070 and RED-070, or ENG-075<br />

This course provides a survey of the destruction of European Jewry by the Nazis<br />

during World War II. Topics include the anti-Semitic ideology, bureaucratic<br />

structures, and varying conditions of European occupation and domination under the<br />

Third Reich. Upon completion, students should be able <strong>to</strong> demonstrate an<br />

understanding of the his<strong>to</strong>rical, social, religious, political, and economic fac<strong>to</strong>rs<br />

which cumulatively resulted in the Holocaust. This course has been approved for<br />

transfer under the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement as a premajor and/or<br />

elective course requirement for the A.A, A.F.A., and A.S. degrees. NOTE: This<br />

course DOES satisfy the general education core requirement in humanities/fine arts<br />

This course introduces the humanities as a record in literature, music, art, his<strong>to</strong>ry,<br />

religion, and philosophy of humankind's answers <strong>to</strong> the fundamental questions of<br />

existence. Emphasis is placed on the interconnectedness of various aspects of cultures<br />

from ancient through early modern times. Upon completion, students should be able<br />

<strong>to</strong> identify significant figures and cultural contributions of the periods studied. This<br />

course has been approved for transfer under the Comprehensive Articulation<br />

Agreement as a general education course in Humanities/Fine Arts for the A.A.,<br />

A.F.A., and A.S. degrees. This course also satisfies the general education course<br />

requirement in Humanities/Fine Arts for the A.A.S. and A.G.E. degrees. (1997 SU)<br />
