This course introduces the language of painting and the use of various painting<br />

materials. Emphasis is placed on the understanding and use of various painting<br />

techniques, media, and color principles. Upon completion, students should be able <strong>to</strong><br />

demonstrate competence in the use of creative processes directed <strong>to</strong>ward the<br />

development of expressive form. This course has been approved for transfer under<br />

the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement as a premajor and/or elective course<br />

requirement for the A.A, A.F.A., and A.S. degrees. NOTE: This course DOES satisfy<br />

the general education core requirement in humanities/fine arts for the A.A.S. and<br />

This course provides a continuing investigation of the materials, processes, and<br />

techniques of painting. Emphasis is placed on the exploration of expressive content<br />

using a variety of creative processes. Upon completion, students should be able <strong>to</strong><br />

demonstrate competence in the expanded use of form and variety. This course has<br />

been approved for transfer under the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement as a<br />

premajor and/or elective course requirement for the A.A, A.F.A., and A.S. degrees.<br />

NOTE: This course DOES satisfy the general education core requirement in<br />

This course introduces digital pho<strong>to</strong>graphic equipment, theory and processes.<br />

Emphasis is placed on camera operation, composition, computer pho<strong>to</strong> manipulation<br />

and creative expression. Upon completion, students should be able <strong>to</strong> successfully<br />

expose, digitally manipulate, and print a well-conceived composition. This course<br />

has been approved <strong>to</strong> satisfy the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement for<br />

transferability as a premajor and/or elective course requirement for the A.A., A.F.A.,<br />

AST Astronomy<br />

AST-111 Descriptive Astronomy 3 (3-0) FS<br />

Prerequisites: ENG-085, MAT 060, minimum grade C<br />

Corequisites: AST-111A<br />

This course introduces an overall view of modern astronomy. Topics include an<br />

overview of the solar system, the sun, stars, galaxies, and the larger universe. Upon<br />

completion, students should be able <strong>to</strong> demonstrate an understanding of the universe<br />

around them. Emphasis will be on the fundamental physics concepts underlying<br />

<strong>to</strong>pics studied; students can expect <strong>to</strong> use computers and the Internet for study and<br />

research. This course has been approved for transfer under the Comprehensive<br />

Articulation Agreement as a general education course in Natural Science for the<br />

A.A., A.F.A., and A.S. degrees. This course also satisfies the general education<br />

course requirement in Natural Science for the A.A.S. and A.G.E. degrees. (1997 SU)
