transport of information across networks. Topics include data integrity through<br />

encryption, Virtual Private Networks, SSL, SSH, and IPSec. Upon completion,<br />

This course provides an overview of security administration and fundamentals of<br />

designing security architectures. Topics include networking technologies, TCP/IP<br />

concepts, pro<strong>to</strong>cols, network traffic analysis, moni<strong>to</strong>ring, and security best practices.<br />

Upon completion, students should be able <strong>to</strong> identify normal network traffic using<br />

network analysis <strong>to</strong>ols and design basic security defenses. (2006 SP)<br />

SGD-111 Introduction <strong>to</strong> SGD 3 (2-3) F<br />

This course provides students with an introduction <strong>to</strong> simulation and game<br />

development. Topics include setting, s<strong>to</strong>rytelling, narrative, character design,<br />

interface design, game play, internal economy, core mechanics, game genres, AI, the<br />

psychology of game design and professionalism. Upon completion, students should<br />

be able <strong>to</strong> demonstrate knowledge of the major aspects of simulation and game<br />

This course introduces the fundamentals of simulation and game design. Topics<br />

include industry standards and design elements for simulations and games. Upon<br />

completion, students should be able <strong>to</strong> design simple simulations and/or games.<br />

SGD-113 SGD Programming 3 (2-3) F<br />

Corequisites: None<br />

This course introduces the fundamentals of programming languages and <strong>to</strong>ols<br />

employed in simulation and game development. Emphasis is placed on programming<br />

concepts used <strong>to</strong> create simulations and games. Upon completion, students should be<br />

able <strong>to</strong> program simple games and/or simulations. (2006 SP)
