Corequisites: None<br />

This course is a continuation of MUS-251. Emphasis is placed on techniques and<br />

styles and the exploration and study of appropriate literature. Upon completion,<br />

students should be able <strong>to</strong> demonstrate proficiency in the studied skills and reper<strong>to</strong>ire<br />

through performance. The following letter suffixes designate a specific instrument or<br />

voice: A-Voice, B-Piano, C-Organ, D-Flute, E-Oboe/Bassoon, F-Clarinet, G-<br />

Saxophone, H-Trumpet, J-French Horn, K-Trombone, L-Bari<strong>to</strong>ne/Tuba, M-Violin,<br />

This course is the first of a two-semester, in-depth study of music his<strong>to</strong>ry. Emphasis<br />

is placed on the his<strong>to</strong>ry and literature of music from Antiquity through the Baroque<br />

Period. Upon completion, students should be able <strong>to</strong> trace important musical<br />

developments and demonstrate an understanding of the composers’ styles. This<br />

course has been approved for transfer under the Comprehensive Articulation<br />

Agreement as a premajor and/or elective course requirement for the A.A., A.F.A.,<br />
