Golf Course Management<br />

Concentration of Turfgrass Management Technology<br />

Golf Course Management is a concentration under Turfgrass Management<br />

Technology that is designed <strong>to</strong> develop the golf course operations<br />

professional.<br />

Students will acquire knowledge and skills that will allow them <strong>to</strong> apply<br />

principles of horticulture, turfgrass management, landscape design, and<br />

business organization and administration <strong>to</strong> golf courses.<br />

Graduates will be qualified <strong>to</strong> enter careers as assistant superintendents, golf<br />

course construction technicians, or specialist in allied areas of turf<br />

management including sod production and athletic field management.<br />

This curriculum prepares students for employment in the turf management<br />

sec<strong>to</strong>r of the green industry as golf course superintendents, assistant golf<br />

course superintendents, and golf course construction technicians. While<br />

enrolled in Golf Course Management, students will acquire skills in turfgrass<br />

management, business organization, horticulture, and golf course<br />

administration. Students will also complete an internship at one of the worldfamous<br />

golf courses in the Pinehurst, North Carolina area.<br />

Because the use of computers is integral <strong>to</strong> this curriculum, some courses<br />

are delivered in an online format.
