SGD-274 SG Level Design II 3 (2-3) S<br />

Prerequisites: SGD-174<br />

This course introduces the advanced <strong>to</strong>ols used <strong>to</strong> create levels for real-time<br />

simulations and games. Topics include advanced level design and architecture theory,<br />

concepts related <strong>to</strong> “critical path” and “flow,” game balancing, playtesting and<br />

s<strong>to</strong>rytelling. Upon completion, students should be able <strong>to</strong> design complex levels<br />

using industry standard <strong>to</strong>ols. (2006 SP)<br />

SGD-285 SG Software Engineering 3 (2-3) S<br />

Prerequisites: SGD-212, SGD-213, or SGD-214<br />

Corequisites: None<br />

This course introduces object oriented software engineering concepts related <strong>to</strong><br />

simulation and game development. Topics include systematic approaches <strong>to</strong> the<br />

development, operation and maintenance of simulations and games. Upon<br />

completion, students should be able <strong>to</strong> apply software engineering techniques <strong>to</strong> the<br />

SGD-289 SGD Project 3 (2-3) SS<br />

Prerequisites: SGD-212, SGD-213, SGD-214, or SGD-285<br />

Corequisites: None<br />

This course provides students with the opportunity <strong>to</strong> create a functional simulation<br />

or game with minimal instruc<strong>to</strong>r support. Emphasis is placed upon verbal and written<br />

communication, skill documentation, professional presentation and user training.<br />

Upon completion, students should be able <strong>to</strong> create and professionally present a fully<br />

SOC-210 Introduction <strong>to</strong> Sociology 3 (3-0) FS SS<br />

Prerequisites: ENG-070 and RED-070, or ENG-075<br />

This course introduces the scientific study of human society, culture, and social<br />

interactions. Topics include socialization, research methods, diversity and inequality,<br />

cooperation and conflict, social change, social institutions, and organizations. Upon<br />

completion, students should be able <strong>to</strong> demonstrate knowledge of sociological<br />

concepts as they apply <strong>to</strong> the interplay among individuals, groups, and societies. This<br />

course has been approved for transfer under the Comprehensive Articulation<br />

Agreement as a general education course in Social/Behavioral Sciences for the A.A.,<br />

A.F.A., and A.S. degrees. This course also satisfies the general education course<br />

requirement in Social/Behavioral Sciences for the A.A.S. and A.G.E. degrees. (1997<br />

This course covers the institution of the family and other intimate relationships.<br />

Emphasis is placed on mate selection, gender roles, sexuality, communication, power<br />

and conflict, parenthood, diverse lifestyles, divorce and remarriage, and economic<br />

issues. Upon completion, students should be able <strong>to</strong> analyze the family as a social<br />

institution and the social forces which influence its development and change. This<br />

course has been approved for transfer under the Comprehensive Articulation
