PED-254 Coaching Basketball 2 (1-2) AND

This course introduces the theory and methods of coaching basketball. Emphasis is
placed on rules, game strategies, and selected techniques of coaching basketball.
Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate competent coaching skills
in basketball. This course has been approved to satisfy the Comprehensive
Articulation Agreement for transferability as a premajor and/or elective course
requirement for the A.A., A.F.A., and A.S. degrees. (1997 SU)
PED-260 Lifeguard Training 2 (1-2) AND
Prerequisites: PED-153
Corequisites: None
This course covers the skills, knowledge, and techniques of lifesaving and
lifeguarding. Topics include identifying and minimizing aquatic hazards, recognizing
and effectively rescuing people in distress, and developing safety skills. Upon
completion, students should be able to demonstrate skills, knowledge, and techniques
of lifesaving and lifeguarding to pass American Red Cross lifeguarding certification.
This course has been approved to satisfy the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement
for transferability as a premajor and/or elective course requirement for the A.A.,

PED-262 Water Safety Instructor 2 (1-2) AND

This course covers the knowledge and skills necessary to teach and certify others in
the American Red Cross certification swimming programs. Emphasis is placed on
teaching basic rescue skills, strengthening swimming strokes, and rescue and safety
procedures. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate skills,
knowledge, and techniques to pass the American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor's
certification. This course has been approved to satisfy the Comprehensive
Articulation Agreement for transferability as a premajor and/or elective course

This course introduces fundamental issues in philosophy considering the views of
classical and contemporary philosophers. Emphasis is placed on knowledge and
belief, appearance and reality, determinism and free will, faith and reason, and justice
and inequality. Upon completion, students should be able to identify, analyze, and
critique the philosophical components of an issue. This course has been approved for
transfer under the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement as a general education
course in Humanities/Fine Arts for the A.A., A.F.A., and A.S. degrees. This course
also satisfies the general education course requirement in Humanities/Fine Arts for
