This course is a survey of Rock music from the early 1950's <strong>to</strong> the present. Emphasis<br />

is placed on musical groups, soloists, and styles related <strong>to</strong> the evolution of this idiom<br />

and on related his<strong>to</strong>rical and social events. Upon completion, students should be able<br />

<strong>to</strong> identify specific styles and <strong>to</strong> explain the influence of selected performers within<br />

their respective eras. This course has been approved for transfer under the<br />

Comprehensive Articulation Agreement as a general education course in<br />

Humanities/Fine Arts for the A.A., A.F.A., and A.S. degrees. This course also satisfies<br />

the general education course requirement in Humanities/Fine Arts for the A.A.S. and<br />

Corequisites: None<br />

This course is a continuation of MUS-122. Emphasis is placed on altered and<br />

chromatic harmony, common practice era compositional techniques and forms, and<br />

continued studies in part-writing, ear-training, and sight-singing. Upon completion,<br />

students should be able <strong>to</strong> demonstrate proficiency in the recognition and application<br />

of the above. This course has been approved for transfer under the Comprehensive<br />

Articulation Agreement as a premajor and/or elective course requirement for the<br />

This course is a continuation of studies begun in MUS-221. Emphasis is placed on<br />

continued study of common practice era compositional techniques and forms, 20th<br />

century practices, ear-training, and sight-singing. Upon completion, students should<br />

be able <strong>to</strong> demonstrate proficiency in the recognition and application of the above.<br />

This course has been approved for transfer under the Comprehensive Articulation<br />

Agreement as a premajor and/or elective course requirement for the A.A., A.F.A.,<br />

This course is a continuation of MUS-132. Emphasis is placed on vocal techniques<br />

and the study and performance of a variety of styles and periods of choral literature.<br />

Upon completion, students should be able <strong>to</strong> demonstrate skills needed <strong>to</strong> participate<br />

in choral singing leading <strong>to</strong> performance. This course has been approved for transfer<br />

under the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement as a premajor and/or elective<br />
