COLLEGE PROGRAMS FOR HIGH SCHOOL<br />

STUDENTS<br />

Career and <strong>College</strong> Promise provides a focused means for students <strong>to</strong> begin<br />

completion of college transfer credits or career training prior <strong>to</strong> their<br />

graduation from high school. Courses under Career and <strong>College</strong> Promise are<br />

offered <strong>to</strong> high school students with no charge for tuition.<br />

Eligible high school students may earn:<br />

<strong>College</strong> credit, which is completely transferrable <strong>to</strong> all UNC System<br />

Institutions, as well as many private schools and out-of-state<br />

universities and colleges.<br />

<strong>College</strong> credit <strong>to</strong>ward a credential, certificate or diploma in a<br />

technical career.<br />

A high school diploma and two years of college credit in four <strong>to</strong><br />

five years through innovative cooperative high schools (Hoke<br />

County students only).<br />

Upon meeting eligibility requirements, students may enroll in a college<br />

transfer pathway, a career-technical pathway, or the SandHoke Early <strong>College</strong><br />

(Hoke County students only).<br />

Students may be enrolled in only one college transfer pathway or careertechnical<br />

pathway per semester, but eligible students may also opt <strong>to</strong> be<br />

concurrently enrolled in a college transfer pathway and career technical<br />

pathway during the same semester. Students may change pathways after<br />

each semester.<br />

<strong>College</strong> Transfer Pathways<br />

Students may earn college transfer credits <strong>to</strong>ward 44 hours of college credit<br />

that will transfer <strong>to</strong> any public North Carolina university as long as a grade<br />

of C or better is earned in each course. Credits may also be accepted for<br />

transfer by private or out-of-state schools. Courses may be offered on the<br />

SCC campus, on one of the high school campuses or online. Not all courses<br />

are offered at all of the high schools.<br />
