This course provides opportunities <strong>to</strong> explore emerging technologies. Emphasis is<br />

placed on identifying, researching, and presenting current technological <strong>to</strong>pics for<br />

class consideration and discussion. Upon completion, students should be able <strong>to</strong><br />

understand the importance of keeping abreast of technological changes that affect the<br />

OST-286 Professional Development 3 (3-0) S<br />

Prerequisites: ENG-112 or ENG-114, OST-134<br />

Corequisites: None<br />

This course covers the personal competencies and qualities needed <strong>to</strong> project a<br />

professional image in the office. Topics include interpersonal skills, health lifestyles,<br />

appearance, attitude, personal and professional growth, multicultural awareness, and<br />

professional etiquette. Upon completion, students should be able <strong>to</strong> demonstrate these<br />

attributes in the classroom, office, and society. (1999 FA)<br />

This course is designed <strong>to</strong> be a caps<strong>to</strong>ne course for the office professional and<br />

provides a working knowledge of modern office procedures. Emphasis is placed on<br />

scheduling, telephone procedures, travel arrangements, event planning, office design,<br />

and ergonomics. Upon completion, students should be able <strong>to</strong> adapt in an office<br />

This course is designed <strong>to</strong> investigate and apply the basic concepts and principles of<br />

lifetime physical fitness and other health-related fac<strong>to</strong>rs. Emphasis is placed on<br />

wellness through the study of nutrition, weight control, stress management, and<br />

consumer facts on exercise and fitness. Upon completion, students should be able <strong>to</strong><br />

plan a personal, lifelong fitness program based on individual needs, abilities, and<br />

interests. This course has been approved for transfer under the Comprehensive<br />

Articulation Agreement as a premajor and/or elective course requirement for the<br />

A.A., A.F.A., and A.S. degrees. NOTE: This course does NOT count as a physical<br />

PED-111 Physical Fitness I 1 (0-3) AND<br />

This course provides an individualized approach <strong>to</strong> physical fitness utilizing the five<br />

major components. Emphasis is placed on the scientific basis for setting up and<br />

engaging in personalized physical fitness programs. Upon completion, students<br />

should be able <strong>to</strong> set up and implement an individualized physical fitness program.<br />

This course has been approved <strong>to</strong> satisfy the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement<br />

for transferability as a premajor and/or elective course requirement for the A.A.,<br />
