AUT-231 Man Trans/Axles/Drtrains 3 (2-3) S<br />

Prerequisites: None<br />

Corequisites: AUT-231A<br />

This course covers the operation, diagnosis, and repair of manual<br />

transmissions/transaxles, clutches, driveshafts, axles, and final drives. Topics include<br />

theory of <strong>to</strong>rque, power flow, and manual drive train service and repair using<br />

appropriate service information, <strong>to</strong>ols, and equipment. Upon completion, students<br />

should be able <strong>to</strong> explain operational theory, diagnose and repair manual drive trains.<br />

AUT-231A Man Trans/Axles/Drtrains Lab 1 (0-3) S<br />

Prerequisites: None<br />

Corequisites: AUT-231<br />

This course is an optional lab for the program that needs <strong>to</strong> meet NATEF hour<br />

standards but does not have a co-op component in the program. Topics include<br />

manual drive train diagnosis, service and repair using appropriate service<br />

information, <strong>to</strong>ols, and equipment. Upon completion, students should be able <strong>to</strong><br />

diagnose and repair manual drive trains. (2007 FA)<br />

AUT-285 Intro <strong>to</strong> Alternative Fuels 3 (2-2) S<br />

Prerequisites: None<br />

Corequisites: None<br />

This course is an overview of alternative fuels and alternative fueled vehicles. Topics<br />

include composition and use of alternative fuels, including compressed natural gas,<br />

propane, biodiesel, ethanol, electric, hydrogen, synthetic fuels, and vehicles that use<br />

alternative fuels. Upon completion, students should be able <strong>to</strong> identify alternative fuel<br />

vehicles, explain how each alternative fuel delivery system works, and make minor<br />

BIO Biology<br />

Initial student placement in developmental courses is based on individual college<br />

placement testing policies and procedures. Students should begin developmental<br />

course work at the appropriate level indicated by the college's placement test.<br />

BIO-094 Concepts of Human Biology 4 (3-2) S SS<br />

Prerequisites: ENG-085<br />

Corequisites: ENG-095<br />

This course focuses on fundamental concepts of human biology. Topics include<br />

terminology, biochemistry, cell biology, tissues, body systems, and other related<br />

<strong>to</strong>pics. Upon completion, students should be able <strong>to</strong> demonstrate preparedness for<br />

college-level ana<strong>to</strong>my and physiology courses. (2009 FA)<br />

BIO-110 Principles of Biology 4 (3-3) AND<br />

Prerequisites: ENG-085<br />

Corequisites: None<br />

This course provides a survey of fundamental biological principles for non-science<br />

majors. Emphasis is placed on basic chemistry, cell biology, metabolism, genetics,<br />

taxonomy, evolution, ecology, diversity, and other related <strong>to</strong>pics. Upon completion,<br />

students should be able <strong>to</strong> demonstrate increased knowledge and better understanding<br />

of biology as it applies <strong>to</strong> everyday life. Under the Comprehensive Articulation<br />

Agreement, this course satisfies the general education Natural Science requirement
