This course provides familiarization with basic gardening techniques by performing<br />

practical hands-on exercises required for the spring season. Emphasis is placed on<br />

pruning, irrigation, planting, fertilizing, pest control, equipment operation, turf<br />

maintenance, and landscape construction. Upon completion, students should be able<br />

<strong>to</strong> satisfac<strong>to</strong>rily perform various practices essential <strong>to</strong> maintaining the landscape in<br />

LSG-123 Summer Gardening Lab 2 (0-6) SS<br />

Prerequisites: LSG-122, TRF-110<br />

Corequisites: COE-121, HOR-114, HOR-142, HOR-164, HOR-260<br />

This course provides basic hands-on experience in summer gardening techniques.<br />

Emphasis is placed on pruning, irrigation, planting, fertilizing, pest control,<br />

equipment operation, turf maintenance, landscape construction, and maintaining<br />

fruits and vegetables. Upon completion, students should be able <strong>to</strong> perform various<br />

LSG-231 Landscape Supervision 4 (2-6) F<br />

Prerequisites: HOR-114, HOR-164, HOR-260, LSG-123, TRF-110<br />

This course provides experience in planning, implementing, and supervising various<br />

landscape management projects. Emphasis is placed on supervisory skills,<br />

organizing, and scheduling. Upon completion, students should be able <strong>to</strong> supervise<br />

employees in various landscape management jobs. (2000 FA)<br />

LSG-244 Advanced Issues/LSG 2 (2-0) S<br />

Prerequisites: None<br />

Corequisites: None<br />

This course covers advanced <strong>to</strong>pics and issues in landscape gardening. Emphasis is<br />

placed on current issues, emerging technology, professional growth experiences, and<br />

other related <strong>to</strong>pics. Upon completion, students should be able <strong>to</strong> demonstrate an<br />

understanding of advanced <strong>to</strong>pics and critically analyze issues in landscape<br />

gardening. (2008 SP)<br />

MAT Mathematics<br />

Initial student placement in developmental courses is based on individual<br />

college placement testing policies and procedures. Students should begin<br />

developmental course work at the appropriate level indicated by that<br />

college’s placement test. All associate’s degree students must either place<br />

out of MAT-060 or successfully complete MAT-060 <strong>to</strong> demonstrate<br />

competence in fundamental mathematical skills.
