deploys meets the needs of its college community. These include a technology support<br />

organization and a center for faculty and staff, supervision and input by shared governance<br />

technology groups, training and educational support for the technology it deploys and<br />

assessment of program reviews which ensures the technology provided is performing the<br />

intended services and tools.<br />

To support distance education, the college has dedicated staff supporting online students and<br />

faculty as well as Etudes, the college‘s current course management system. These same<br />

resources provide training, support and leadership around online education. These resources<br />

are supervised by the VP of Information and Technology Resources, and directly participate<br />

with the Distance Education Committee, to provide <strong>College</strong> wide direction and leadership for<br />

distance education. Through the THRFC technology governance group, the college sets<br />

innovation priorities and oversees and authors the college‘s Technology Master Plan. (III.C.1,<br />

THRFC Minutes) The committee is co-chaired by the VP of Information and Technology<br />

Resources and the Associate Vice President of Human Resources. Other participating<br />

administrators, faculty and staff include the Dean of Instruction and Curriculum, Director of<br />

Facilities, and representatives of the Academic and Classified Senates.<br />

Planning Agenda<br />

The Technology Task Force needs to establish quarterly surveys of faculty, staff and students<br />

as a primary means of identifying their satisfaction level with its array of technology services<br />

and functions.<br />

to enhance the operation and effectiveness of the institution.<br />

Descriptive Summary<br />

<strong>Hartnell</strong> <strong>College</strong> uses technology to provide access to outstanding educational opportunities,<br />

to facilitate access to services and resources, and to support and improve student learning and<br />

success. In March 2012, the college completed a comprehensive five year Technology Master<br />

Plan as a continuance of the 2007-2009 Technology Master Plan (III.C.2, 2007-09 <strong>Hartnell</strong><br />

<strong>College</strong> Technology Master Plan, 2011-2016) defining how it uses technology to support its<br />

goals as defined by the college mission. The plan provides a framework for college wide<br />

decision making around technology, and details how it supports its technology infrastructure,<br />

integrates technology planning with institutional planning, provides support and leadership<br />
