STUDENT PERFORMANCE AND ACHIEVEMENT
Student success and achievement are central to the mission of the college. Data are collected,
reported and reviewed through program review processes to maintain a continual focus on
improving the success and achievement of students.
Student Success and Retention: Student success rates have been level since Fall 2006. Distance
education courses everywhere have lower retention and success rates than traditional face-to-face
courses, but Hartnell‘s rates are lower than would be expected. Hartnell plans to assign
responsibility for distance education to an academic dean in January 2013, who will be
responsible for coordinating improvement of the distance education program.
