COMMENTARY: Radios greatly helped coordinate Mujahideen actions.
Evidently, attacking during the Feast of Ramadan also helped.
Because the DRA had to protect military, political and economic installations
this spread the DRA force thin and inhibited offensive actions.
The agricultural project was vital to the economic well-being of the
area and, although the Mujahideen attacked the military posts, they
did not attack the canals.
