License plates were recorded in an effort todetermine route choice for westbound vehicles from Route 28 in West Yarmouth toRoute 28 in Centerville (Barnstable). It was possible to locate each vehicle withMassachusetts license plate to a zip code of origin. Of those non-Massachusetts vehicles, the majority wereregistered in Florida (42 total). It is likely that these vehicles belonged to people whoown housing in both states, rather than just temporarily visiting Cape Cod. AfterFlorida, the majority of non-Massachusetts plates hailed from the northeast, with thelargest numbers coming from New York (37), Rhode Island (18), Connecticut (14), andNew Jersey (7).
