These reports include discussions on various vehicular accesstreatments and predictions of “Accident Reduction.”3.3.1.1 Modern Roundabouts v. Four-Way IntersectionsA roundabout is a type of circular intersection with specific design and traffic controlfeatures. These features include yield control of all entering traffic, channelizedapproaches, and appropriate geometric curvature to ensure that travel speeds on thecirculatory roadway are typically less than 20 mph. The decision to install a roundaboutas a safety improvement should be based on a demonstrated safety problem of a typesusceptible to correction by a roundabout.
