On <strong>Cape</strong> <strong>Cod</strong>, Route 6 is themajor transportation corridor, particularly for those traveling long distances. Fromwhere it enters Barnstable County in Buzzards Bay until its end in Provincetown, itprovides a primarily limited-access high-speed means of traveling along the spine of the<strong>Cape</strong> both for private automobiles and for public transit. The Route 6 corridor in theOuter <strong>Cape</strong>, where the roadway does not have limited access, also contains segments ofthe Claire Saltonstall Bikeway, or State Bicycle Route 1.
